LOOK WHAT I COULD FIND vol 63
"Bikini surfin' time" - 16 bikini bestsellers on Bra-zillion wax

In The Trashcan Records       GEM063
"Bikini surfettes? Ah, you mean sluts in distress, like surfin' dutchmen down the pipeline..."

1. bikini bra in the surf - toni ok

Oh yeah, it's bikini surf time. Girls, follow me and don't lose your bra in the surf while shaking your tits to this ultra-twistin' surf instro monster from Japan. Released in 1998 on Corduroy Records from Australia. See also vol 50.

9. bikini machines - the bambi molestors

Kamikaze Records also had its surf releases. "Bikini machines" from 1998 is a typical Fender friendly song.

2. margaya - the firebirds

Terrific 1992 rendition of surf classic "Margaya", originally by The Fender IV. This is a Dutch surf rock band with lots of power, similar to the Rotterdam band The Apemen. A Kogar Records release.

10. (i think i'm) surfin' japanese - jon & the nightriders

Simply the best real surf combo after the 60s heyday. Jon Blair wrote two essential guides on surf and hot rod music from the 60s. I saw this band several times in the late 90s and they blew my mind. Only one surf guitar player could equal his skills and that was a Belgian guitar player, namely Steven Janssens who was the leader of The Revelaires and The Who-dads. A 1981 Rockhouse release.

3. hava nagila - the moondawgs

Sole output from this Brussels surf group. Only 200 copies were pressed of this early 90s self-released EP on green vinyl. The bass player later re-emerged as one of the Mighty Gordinis.

11. the tunnel - fifty foot combo

During the first 5 years of their existence they were a genuine instrumental surf group with added exotic moods.  Later they added more diverse influences in their heavy sounding instrumental rock. As compensation the nucleus of the band started the Andrews Surfers that took over the surf attitude. Reverb drenched bongo beatin' monster surf from Ghent, Belgium. A 1997 Monstrophonic release.

4. the riddler - the riddlers

The first song of this 4-track EP on Riptide Records from Utrecht. Great self-penned surf instro monster from 1996. See also vol 42.

12. king pyramid - mad 3

Egyptian surf by a Fender sphynx on the Nile by Tokyo trash surf outfit Mad 3 featuring Eddie Legend, who later joined King Rocker, a Japanese "super group" comprising one from Guitar Wolf and one from Hong Kong Knife. In their early days he was still known as Eddie Spaceman and he was very close with The 5.6.7.8's.  A 1992 Giant Claw release.

5. cat walk - the trashwomen

Feline Fender friends of The Phantom Surfers and The Mummies, hailing from San Francisco, California. Here they are with their debut EP on Hillsdale Records. An excellent surf rock instro monster from 1992.

13. sluts in distress - shaggable sluts

Trash-surf in the very best lo-fi tradition like, say,  The Mummies or The Phantom Surfers. 5-track EP on Kill Art Rock from 1999. The band hailed from Arnhem, Netherlands and I think this was their sole release.

6. surfin' dutchmen - the vice barons

Frenzied Fender fuzz friends on F.F.Fascination Records with an Oriental flavour festering in this fierce instro monster from 1994. See vol 13 for more from this EP.

14. the indefinite flavour of sadness - surf me up, scotty!

The Luxemburg version of Man Or Astroman featuring Patrizia, the loveliest bass playing girl from the Benelux. Formed in 1996 in Esch-sur-Alzette they released this excellent space instro on a split-EP with Gauged on Amoeba Records.

7. toronado - the apemen

One of the best neo-surf tunes from the 90s. Dutch band The Apemen needed a Belgian record label to break through. "Sounds of the Apemen" EP is a highlight of the Euro surf hype.

15. ol' woody stomp - the royal knightmares

Four surf rock instrumentals on this Misty Lane EP from 1995, all written by Massimo Del Pozzo, also known from the Italian garage combo The Others.

8. pipeline - the bam bams

Nobody seems to know how to mess up "Pipeline". The Bam Bams' version is one of the most powerful I know. Also "Batman" is on this EP. The two other tracks are silly pop punk tunes.

16. pabst blue ribbon - the untamed youth

Terrific surf instrumental about opening a beer can. Recorded in 1987 and unreleased until 1994, thanks to Teen-Rage Records. Enjoy the teenage sounds from these 17 year old midwest boys.
